Transamerica, by Ball-Nogues Studio[/caption] In that space now is a scale replica of the Transamerica building which hangs upside down and is made of ball chain. The piece came from Ball-Nogues Studio where it was created. The piece arrived in a big wooden crate condensed layer by layer. The guys installing it took 5 days to get it fully extended. I used time lapse and my motion control slider to capture the process. I also used GoPro cameras in interval mode to capture cool angles including clamped to the third floor landing, clamped to the lift and clamped to a chair. GoPro cameras make for some amazing wide angle views. [caption id="attachment_1463" align="alignright" width="309"] Modernist Maverick: The Architecture of William L. Pereira @ Nevada Museum of Art[/caption] I also used my new 16 – 35 Zeiss lens to capture full views of the piece from above and below. While the space is very large, it is hard to capture without a really wide angle lens. The 16mm lens combined with the full-frame Sony a-99 DSLR makes for an incredible wide shot. Thanks to Colin Robertson and the Nevada Museum of Art for commissioning this piece and for asking me to capture the installation! Check it out along with the featured exhibit, Modernist Maverick, The Architecture of William L. Pereira running through October 13th. -Mike]]>
