I worked with a big team for this video production to create content to help Douglas County School District recruit new teachers.
Douglas County School District is composed of 12 schools in the Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe. I worked with Estipona Group to scout and shoot this project as the Director of Photography. The bulk of this shoot was done on one day in the winter of 2022. I worked with a crew of another videographer and a PA as well as several creative directors from Estipona Group.
The Team
The team for this project was led by Edward Estipona and Paige Lampert. I was the Director of Photography, overseeing all aspects of the visual, lighting, and composition of the video footage.
We split into two teams for most of this shoot, and Anthony Cupaiolo, from First Tracks Productions, shot interviews while I shot B-Roll in and around the school. I worked with a Production Assistant to move quickly and switch between a camera on a gimbal setup and another camera that was on a tripod with a slider that I could use locked off, or use the slider or pull it off and shoot handheld. We were shooting students in the schools during regular class periods so we weren’t able to stage scenes and repeat things, meaning I had to get all the good shots the first time, or they were gone. In situations like this, I like to shoot with a PA as it makes it so much faster and easier to be quick and switch camera setups quickly.
These videos were edited by Greg Vannoy from 9mm Media, and he did an awesome job!
The additional lifestyle and sports footage and Tahoe video clips in these videos were supplied from the massive stock footage library that Anthony from First Tracks Productions has captured over the years. If you need epic Tahoe video imagery for a project, you should absolutely reach out to Anthony.
