To be quite honest, I don’t really like the term “sizzle reel.” Is it suppose to make you sizzle? What does that even mean? Anyway, I do get asked to create sizzle reels and don’t mind doing it. I find the challenge of storytelling using just imagery and music to be fun and engaging.
Here’s a sizzle reel i put together for the PSX Connect conference at Edgwood Tahoe hosted by Pure Spectrum.
The conference was an opportunity for Pure Spectrum marketing insights customers to engage with and learn from others in the community. There was keynotes by Peter Leyden, Dr. Jessica Kriegel, and Jeffrey Ma as well as several panel discussions.
For this shoot I used a single camera, my Sony FX3. I used the S-Log 3 picture profile to be able to extract the best dynamic range and low light performance. In post production I appplied a LUT in Final Cut Pro. to bring the color pretty much to final grade all in one go. I used Caleb Pike’s Sony S-Log3 Pike LUT which is simple and subtle and a great value. It basically turns S-Log back into S-Cinetone in one step.
If you’re looking for a high quality conference video in Lake Tahoe or Reno, I’d be happy to chat!
