Solar Celebration in Quincy, CA
This summer, I teamed up with RE-Volv for an exciting project – creating a video for the grand opening of a solar power facility. Let's dive into the highlights!
About RE-Volv: A Climate Justice Force
RE-Volv, a climate justice nonprofit, is on a mission to bring solar energy to underserved communities nationwide. They not only raise awareness about climate solutions but also groom the next generation of clean energy leaders.
Mission in Quincy, CA
My task? To capture the grand opening of a solar facility at Plumas Charter School in Quincy, CA. RE-volv aims to spotlight financing options for green energy in various U.S. communities.
Drone Shots: Setting the Scene
Early on, I used drone footage to showcase the exterior of Plumas Charter School. Navigating drones around people, especially kids, can be tricky. I ensured a safe distance to capture stunning shots without causing distractions.
Event Unfolded: Ribbon-Cutting and Back-to-School Night
The event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the school's back-to-school night. Attendees, including parents, staff, and students, explored the solar project's open house, creating memorable moments.
Camera Work: Smooth and Stabilized
For most interior shots, I went handheld with the Sony FX3 in 4k 10-bit, 4:2:2. Using Steady Shot Active, I achieved a smooth, stabilized look. Why no gimbal? In event videography, it can sometimes disrupt the experience, so I used it subtly or only when requested.
Insightful Interviews: Voices Behind the Project
We conducted video interviews with key figures, including reps from RE-Volv, the installing contractor Grid Alternatives, and a school administrator.
Post-Production Magic
RE-Volv trusted me to edit the final video. I combined footage with on-screen graphics and music to align with their branding consistency from previous productions.
Final Result: A Visual Testament
The resulting video is a powerful testament to RE-Volv's impactful work, showcasing sustainable, community-focused clean energy solutions. Visit their website to learn more about their mission!
