Most of my work over the years has been to fully produce brand videos and video testimonials for businesses, including planning, videography, and editing. Learning about people and what they do and helping tell their stories is fascinating. But I also do a fair bit of work where I shoot the video for an out-of-state video producer with a local client here in Reno and hand the footage off to them for editing. I was hired in June by Jay Alipit at Storynjin in Washington, DC to shoot several interviews and video B-Roll on a one-day video shoot with three locations in Reno, NV, to help tell the story of Dr. Charles Cordova’s Affordable Dentures and Implants practice.
I shot and conducted a fairly lengthy interview with Dr. Cordova with two cameras and pro audio in the waiting room of their office. The front windows had great natural light, making the scene perfect. One of the things I feel I’ve gotten good at over the last 14 years of doing this is conducting interviews. It’s a skill that takes some development. You have to make the person feel comfortable and open while keeping an ear for what will sound professional and appropriate on camera.
I also shot two interviews with two of Dr. Cordova’s patients at other locations to get the story of how their dental implants changed their lives. For this video with John we shot this in his home in South Reno. I sued two cameras, a microphone on a boom and two LED lights with soft boxes.
For this video with Rebecca we met at a park in west Reno. I used a wireless lavalier microphone for this one with two cameras as well.
